InnoDrone

Innovation project that will increase the prevalence of drones in Danish industry.

Background
The use of drones and drone technology has advanced significantly in the last three years in Denmark, and there is no doubt that drone technology is a growth area with great industrial potential. However, there is still some way to go before the possibilities in drone technology are fully exploited and converted into growth and jobs in Denmark.27.03.2017 - Inno-Drone

Aim/Vision
The project is the first step towards the industrialisation of drones, similar to the way in which robots and AGVs have been implemented in production companies.

The project will support the Danish Drone Strategy through concrete actions and the development of knowledge collaborations. The project will also spotlight the use of drones and drone technologies within the five industries: Construction, agriculture, production, offshore/energy and environment.

The project will help to connect producers, developers and end users of drones with the aim of testing and demonstrating drones and drone technology for a wide range of businesses, end users and public partners.

Project activities:
During the project period, five broad conferences about innovative development and use of drones will be held.

  • May 2017: Focus on market potential for drones within the five industries
  • September 2017: Nordic UAS
  • Spring 2018: International speak
  • November 2018: Closing conference

In addition, different workshops and knowledge collaborations will be arranged, where each industry will create knowledge collaborations consisting of at least 2 knowledge institutions and a minimum of 2 SMEs. A knowledge collaboration is a binding collaboration between partners, which usually results in an application to a foundation or similar.

In all, the aim is to create 15 knowledge collaborations and 12 workshops within the five industries.

Expected results
By holding the conferences and workshops as well as establishing the knowledge collaborations, it is expected to create an increased understanding of the use of drone technology across industries, thereby supporting and accelerating the development and application of drone technology.

Grant
The project has a total budget of 12 million DKK, of which 6 million DKK is granted by the Danish Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants. The participating businesses are co-financing the project with a contribution of 6 million DKK. 

The project runs from 1st January 2017 until 31st December 2018.
